Verse of the Day: Luke 2:4-5

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

Memory verse: Philippians 4:8 ►Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Come to Town(Like the shepherds)


In this season of Advent, we should be preparing for what we celebrate as the coming of Jesus at His birth over 2000 years ago. (I also believe that we should live in an attitude of 'advent' in that we should always be preparing for the return of Jesus for the beginning of a glorious eternity.)


I want us to turn our imagination to the night of the birth of Christ.

Being 'amazed' at a group of shepherds-really? They smelled like sheep. They were at the bottom of the occupational ladder. Yet the Bible says in Luke, chapter 2 verse 18,"And all those who heard were amazed at the things the shepherds told them."

Why? How?

The shepherds had seen angels and heard a great group of them singing up in the sky. They said to each other in verse 15, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened which Adonai has made known to us!”

When God speaks to us-and when we are really listening, we will hear God speak-it shows in the way we speak and the way we act-no matter how we smell or what rung of the world's ladder we are on.

The shepherds went to town after a great display of worship. They went to see what God had told them to see.

They heard; they obeyed; they observed; they testified and they were believed and they went home worshipping God.

They were consumed with the coming of our Messiah-their lives were never the same.

Jesus is coming back. I suggest we 'go to town' like the shepherds and 'see Jesus'. Whatever it takes we must seek God's kingdom and 'see Jesus' and hear from God and testify to these great glories.

Hearing and seeing God everyday of our lives?...nothing will ever be the same.

Get to His throne as fast as you can.


...because He loves us...


Father in Heaven, glorious God and Holy Master,

Forgive me my sin of not seeing and hearing. Teach me to use the eyes and ears You have given me in Christ-the voice You gave me to speak-and the courage and sound mind You make real in me.

Eternal God of peace and power,

In the name of Christ Jesus,
