Verse of the Day: "Woe to the rebellious children," says the Lord, "who take counsel, but not of Me, and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin." —Isaiah 30:1
Memory of the Month: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Today's reading: LEVITICUS 23-24 MARK 1:1-22
Children of God
When a finger is pointed at someone in anger or disgust, why is it usually done? It is done to bring attention to someone else's sin or what the 'pointer' judges to be wrong. The atmosphere in the world at present seems to be greatly about proving one side right. This side is right and the other is wrong. One side deserves some sort of punitive measure just for the way they voted or what news service they watch?
Which side are you? Both sides point fingers. Both sides judge. Both sides, then, are wrong according to the scripture where Jesus says,
“Don’t judge others, and God will not judge you. 2 If you judge others, you will be judged the same way you judge them. God will treat you the same way you treat others. 3 “Why do you notice the small piece of dust that is in your friend’s eye, but you don’t notice the big piece of wood that is in your own?? Matthew 7:1-3
Every tragedy affords one side the opportunity to blame someone. One president was blamed for hurricane Katrina. Another was blamed for covid-a whole state is responsible for the winter storm. What they really are saying is:
"Someone has to pay and it cannot be someone on my side because we are always right!"
OK-suck it up and listen-no one is right all the time except for our Eternal God...
...and, unless you are not listening to God and speaking only when He gives you the words, you or we speak from sin.
"everything that does not come from faith is sin." Romans 14:23
So, before you sin in your anger, (Ephesians 4:26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry), take that razor of a tongue and put it in neutral and put your submission and humility before God in gear and close your mouth-lock down the bitter thoughts and make them obedient to Christ, (2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.)
Every argument that is not of faith is against the knowledge of God because it is argued outside the control of the Holy Spirit.
Is there an 'AMEN' out there anywhere?
Tongues are WAY out of control on both sides. The only tongue you can control is your own and that control comes only from God!!
So what you ask? Be a peacemaker. They are children of God.
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Stop; take a step back; take a Godly breath; ask God what it will take to replace this conflict with peace. The first thing that happens inside my heart is to realize the blackness of my own sin and the darkness of my own condition.
People cannot see God's peace in my life if God's peace has been pushed aside by my own pride and selfish control.
Peace starts and exists in one heart at a time-just as always. My heart-your heart must be at peace with God. Humble yourself under His hand and He will raise you up above the junk of the world and let you see how to make peace where you are.
The world out there has got to see God's peace somewhere, so, let it start where it is supposed to-
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Forgive me my sin from my anger. Father, I want to be a real peacemaker. Teach me the patience to wait on You.
