Certain Hope

Saturday, ‎August ‎6, ‎2022

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Psalm 119:130

The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Memory verse: Romans 12:1: Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Today's reading: PSALM 70-71 ROMANS 8:22-39

Certain Hope

The old pastor leaned over the bedside and started to quote scripture. From beginning to end, he quoted the entire eighth chapter of Romans. It was my brother's bedside and doctors had said if we wanted to see him, we needed to come. He got well and lived a few years more.

Romans eight was perfect that day. My brother heard it and it worked in his mind and soul. It is full of hope-and not just any old hope but perfect, certain hope.

Biblical hope waits in eager assurance knowing that the outcome is certain. Even when we have no words, we know that the Holy Spirit can say to our Father what needs to be said on our behalf-that day my brother could not speak-God took care of that, too.

With all the things we have been through, we hear in Romans eight, in spite of all of that that God predestined, called, justified, and glorified us all in Christ Jesus.

Having heard all that, if God is for us who is against us? Knowing that our lives could be taken for the gospel, no one but God has our souls. Nothing can separate us from the Love of God.

Is our hope the 'I hope so' hope? No. No paper-thin hope is in the scripture. Our hope in Christ is eternally set and cannot change-what He said He will do, He will do-no matter what goes on anywhere. No words of any intellectual can change God's heart for us.

It is set in stone-the rock of ages-the stone that makes makes men stumble-the rock that makes them fall.(1 Peter 2:8)

God will use Romans eight in any occasion. Read it, remember it, use it. It is absolute hope.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me my weak hope and help me learn what Your great hope means, little by little, step by step.

Merciful and mighty God!

In the name of Christ our Lord,

Amen
