Beneath The Surface

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading:  ESTHER 9-10 ACTS 7:1-21

Go Beneath The Surface

There is so much more to prayer than many of us know. The longer we seek God, the more we learn(hopefully) of praying always, (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). This teaches us to be 'God-conscious' which leads us to new states of reverence-places during our day where we can still attend to duties of the world and rest in awe of God's glory and joy. (Ok, preacher, what does that mean?) Driving is a good place to learn. While there is still the necessity of the 'secret place' away from the world in your prayer closet, times of driving can be glorious times with the Lord. All other times can be learned. Learn these things.

We have just scratched the surface of what prayer is. We must go deeper. When we pray Psalm 90:14, "Satisfy us in the morning..."(and I believe we must), we get deeper into what Jesus says in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

When we pray, "Give us this day our daily bread", the Holy Spirit reminds us that Jesus is that bread and along with that bread we get His living water to satisfy us-"...never thirst-never hunger..."

We learn that satisfaction in the Lord is the only 'pure' satisfaction we will know on this earth.

Beneath the surface of 'repeated prayer' is relief from and strength for the world in the 'spirit of Holiness' in the resurrection power of Christ.

Romans 1:4 "And was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord..."

We grow in the spirit of Holiness as we allow Him to satisfy us:

18 "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."(2 Corinthians 3:18)

Go deeper in seeking God-in Loving God-go deeper-there is complete satisfaction in Christ.

  ...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Gloriously satisfying Lord, teach me obedience and may I experience more and more of Your Spirit of Holiness. Forgive me for being a 'surface' pray-er. Take me deeper so I experience You better.

God of glorious peace and power,

In the name of my Lord Jesus,

Amen
