As It Is In Heaven

Saturday, November 30, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name...

Verse of the Day: 2 Peter 3:10-11

10 But the day when the Lord comes again will surprise everyone like the coming of a thief. The sky will disappear with a loud noise. Everything in the sky will be destroyed with fire. And the earth and everything in it will be burned up. 11 Everything will be destroyed in this way. So what kind of people should you be? Your lives should be holy and devoted to God.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading: Ezekiel 40-41 2 Peter 3

  As In Heaven

The model prayer, or what we call the 'Lord's Prayer', has a curious line in it. Have you ever wondered what it means when it says:

"Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven"? I take this to mean that Lord wants us to ask for His help in living in obedience as do the Heavenly beings. There is no sin in Heaven.

Peter is teaching about men of dark sin who try to get everyone else to live in sin as they do in 2 Peter 2:11:

9 "...And the Lord will hold evil people to punish them on the day of judgment. 10 That punishment is for those who are always doing the evil that their sinful selves want to do. It is for those who hate the Lord’s authority.

These false teachers do whatever they want, and they are so proud of themselves. They are not afraid to say bad things against the glorious ones. 11 The angels are much stronger and more powerful than these beings. But even the angels don’t accuse them and say bad things about them to the Lord."

The angels do not pass judgement. They do not judge. We are to endeavor to live as those in Heaven live. We are not to judge.

As we pray for God to 'forgive us...as we forgive...', should we also pray for God to 'keep us from judgement'?

I cannot answer for you. I only know that it is really hard to not judge those in the world that think I am crazy for my beliefs. But if I judge them, doesn't that make me just like them?

The point is: we know our own sin-always make it a matter of prayer. Jesus did not sin/does not sin-the angels do not sin-God wants us to be truthful with Him as well as ourselves and take the truthful view of our actions and thoughts.

King David said, "Search me and know my heart...",Psalm 139:23, 24

We need to search our own hearts before God-

--just get it done---

As it is in Heaven...

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me for trying to get away with whatever it is...make me truthful-desiring truth-desiring Your heart.

Tender and merciful, loving God...

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
