Are You Satisfied?

Wednesday, ‎August 23, ‎2023 Good morning, Lord Verse of the Day: Psalm 94:18-19 18 When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your unfailing love, O Eternal One, held me up. 19 When anxiety overtakes me and worries are many, Your comfort lightens my soul. Memory verse: Philippians 4:8 ►Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Today's reading: PSALM 113-115 1 CORINTHIANS 6 Are You Satisfied? There is an old hymn that starts out: "I Am Satisfied With Jesus, He Has Done So Much For Me: He Has Suffered To Redeem Me, He Has Died To Set Me Free." This starts out as a hymn of praise. This praise comes from a thankful heart-'He has done so much for me-He has suffered to redeem me-He has died to set me free'. The Bible tells us to sing of His greatness-this is praise whether it sounds profound or not. The Hebrew people sang of His great wonders from the past-how God parted the water and fed them manna and meat in the desert. Our hearts can also sing of all those miracles but can we not sing of the miracles He has done in our lives? Yes, God still heals and delivers but what does God do in our lives-in your life-over and over everyday? The old hymn goes on to say: "He Is With Me In My Trials, Best Of Friends Of All Is He; I Can Always Count On Jesus..." The Lord wakes us to the reality of His mercies new every morning(Lamentations 3:22-23) Do we notice-do we glory in this reality? Do we count on Him as our best friend? The point is that we should be fully satisfied in Christ-even though life hurts and the world grinds on us all the time. Some say this is an attitude that must be cultivated. Ok. But let's go a little deeper than attitude,i.e., where does that attitude righteously begin? It begins with our realizing that as believers, we must learn to keep the physical world and the spiritual world separate. Don't agree? Then how do we rejoice in the hardest of times? How can we feel the joy of the Lord if we allow the pain of the world to cloud over the reality of the Holy Spirit in our lives? I know-it is hard to do. I hate pain. But if I let my hate for the pain dull my consciousness of the Love between me and God, where am I? What am I doing here? Being satisfied in God is said differently in scripture. Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Delight is a word we don't use much anymore. Psalm 23 says 'my cup runs over'. In that same Psalm it says 'He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside the still waters...' This is praise-these are the wonders God does for us. "But", you ask, "Where are my green pastures-my still waters?" The Lord visits us with these when we praise and are truly delighted in Him-spiritually-not physically. John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. We have written this for years and it will not change-If we obey God's word and worship with our lives, holy and pleasing to God, we will be pleased, delighted-satisfied and then God is best worshipped when we are the most delighted in Him-our hearts will sing of His greatness-in the middle of a harsh physical world! ...because He loves us... Father in Heaven, Lord, forgive me for not obeying Your word. Lead me in Your paths of righteousness show me the delight in You. Thrilling God! In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen
