Antiquated?

Tuesday, April 16, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:  Isaiah 66:2b-“These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: 2 SAMUEL 1-2 LUKE 14:1-24

Antiquated?

Antiquated means: Grown old. Hence: Bygone; obsolete; out of use; old-fashioned.

Isaiah 66:2-“These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.

'Trembling at God's word'-does that sound atiquated to you, old-fashioned, out-of-use?

If it does, it is because we have become, in our own minds, too advanced in social manners as to do such a thing as 'lose control' and tremble. Or...because we have not discovered how to 'hallow' the name of the Lord.

"God is good everyday". People say it all the time. Are we serious?

We have forgotten how to tremble at God's word because we never discovered it.

Yes, trembling is 'old testament' and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus-but-we must discover how very holy our God is-how righteous He is.

Psalm 34:16 ►but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.

Habakkuk 1:13>Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, and You cannot tolerate wrongdoing.

God's own righteousness demands mercy.

Titus 3:5 He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Psalm 147:5 ►Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

The Lord, in His holiness, is patient.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Do we take for granted the awesome power and Holiness of God because He is so merciful and patient? I have to say, yes, we do.

How do we personally return to hallowing God to the point of trembling at His word? We must return to His throne room with much desire and consistency and learn to hear God speak to us. I cannot explain what it is like. Trembling means different things to different folks. When God speaks in your heart, you will know-but He will speak if we are patient in seeking Him.

So seek Him...seeking God is not antiquated...

Jeremiah 29:13 ►You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I want to know what it means to tremble in Your presence. Forgive me my lack of urgency. Build a fire in me,

Oh mighty and righteous God,

In the name of Christ Jesus our Lord,

Amen
