A Pure Heart

‎Sunday, ‎January ‎23, ‎2022

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: James 1:5 New King James Version

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Memory of the Month: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Today's reading: EXODUS 4-6 MATTHEW 14:22-36

A Pure Heart

Jesus, in Matthew 15, said to Peter, "Are you still without understanding?".

We all need to hear this and understand why Peter asked his questions. Peter wanted everything explained to Him because he wanted always to have the right answers. He was used to having everything in a book of laws. The Jews had a rule for most everything.

Jesus wanted His disciples to see the difference between the spiritual world and the physical world, specifically, the pure heart.

We can wash physically all we can but it will not make our hearts pure.

A pure heart takes choices on our part.

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure?

By guarding it according to your word.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

2 Timothy 2:22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

Psalm 24:4-5 ESV

He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to what is false

and does not swear deceitfully.

5 He will receive blessing from the Lord

and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

A pure heart is guarded by God's word.

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure?

By guarding it according to your word.

A pure heart comes in obedience to God.

1 Peter 1:22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

1 John 3:3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Revelation 19:8 ESV

it was granted her to clothe herself

with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

Sticking close to the heart of God and His righteousness-this creates a clean heart.

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and renew a right spirit within me.

...because He loves us...

Our Father in Heaven,

Create in me a pure heart and renew a right spirit in me. Forgive my weaknesses.

Oh great God of all purity and grace!!

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
