A Da-y To Hear

Saturday, ‎December ‎31, ‎2022

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Isaiah 43:16; 18-19

16 The Lord is making roads through the sea. He is making a path for his people, even through rough waters. The Lord says,

18 So don’t remember what happened in earlier times. Don’t think about what happened a long time ago, 19 because I am doing something new! Now you will grow like a new plant. Surely you know this is true. I will even make a road in the desert, and rivers will flow through that dry land.

Memory verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

A Day To Hear

Matthew 11:15 ►Whoever has ears, let them hear.

It is just another day. But it is the last day on a calendar. Think about it. This day is no different than the last day of March or June but because it is the last day of our Calendar year, it brings up myriad emotions and is cause, we think, for celebration and another holiday.

But it is just another day. But it could be the day in which we stop and really listen to the heart of God. It can be that day...

It should always be 'that day'-the day God has our total attention-a day where we hear clearly what God is saying. We should have one day after the other where following God means hearing His still, small-voice.

I Kings 19:11 (the word of the Lord came to Elijah), and he said to him..., “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.

Elijah saw and heard a wind so strong that it tore the mountains apart but the Lord was not in all that racket and rumble. The noise was evidence of the presence of Almighty God but that is not the way God chooses to speak. All that power caused Elijah to feel so small and humble...and then there was a whisper.

We have to be patient and listen. We must be still and listen. We must be quiet and listen.

Psalm 46:10 ►New International Version

He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Almighty God is speaking. Are we listening. This is another day of our either hearing God-- or not.

Listen with all that you are.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven, Great God,

Call me out and teach me to listen-I want to hear You. I will learn to be still and listen to Your heart for me. Forgive me for not filtering out the noise of the world.

God of stillness-God of such vast power!!

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
