What We Have Become
Sunday, August 2, 2020 Good morning, Lord V.O.D.: 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 M.O.M.: Psalm 27:13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Today's reading: PSALM 63-65 ROMANS 6
What We Have Become
Some who read this are retired. Some are in college. Some are wealthy and some are broke and some in the middle somewhere. Some are where they are because they have trusted their own abilities. Some are where they are because they have trusted God.
Some fight the following of any rules. A lot of folks struggle with following rules, but try. Some have learned to set their 'cruise-control' and live inside obedience to Christ.
Before all this started-before you were born-two thousand years ago, Jesus looked down through the ages at every person who would ever live. He looked at all the twisted depravity that would ever occur. He looked at all of us as we would be before, in faith, we started life with Him.
Jesus took all this in and went to the cross for all of mankind-even the ones who would curse Him until they die-and He went knowing all of it. He had to. His love is far too big to let sin stop Him-knowing all the time that sin would stop some from knowing Him.
He died for the people we were before we met Him so He could mold us into the people He intends for us to be in Him.
Does Jesus have your attention? Is He precious to you or something less? Are these questions uncomfortable?
We all have work to do and it is work of the heart, soul, mind, and body. It is a life of living and loving and seeking. This is the most serious of all we will ever do.
Are we doing it?
Matthew 6:33 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Time does not have to take a 'toll' on everything the way folks say. Sure, time does a number on our bodies but time used wisely in obedience to God: "For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11, ESV
...because He loves us... Father in Heaven, Forgive me for not being serious about loving You-I don't love You as I should but I want to. Increase my faith and my desire for You. Gracious God of love and peace. In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen
