Wednesday, ‎June ‎10, ‎2020 Good morning, Lord V.O.D.: Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.—Psalm 29:2 M.O.M.: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27 In a year: Ezra 1-2 John 19:23-42

Mama

Life goes from day to day and with that motion we lose folks. Father's day is coming but we have lost some sweet mother's in recent days, so, with today's reading in the Gospel of John, I want us to hear the sweetest message to mothers in all of scripture.

26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. John 19

In all that Jesus had done-in all he was doing at that very moment-the torturous pain and suffering-the sin of all generations on His shoulders-with all that happening, Jesus took some of His last moments on this earth to make provision for His mother. Think about that. The love of a son for His mother could not be silenced in the worst moment of His life.

Jesus said only five more words after this-before His death and resurrection-only five words, "I thirst", and "It is finished".

Mary, apart from all that the world of faith has said in praise of her, was simply and profoundly the mother of a boy who grew up like all the rest of that time. He had poor parents who worked hard to provide in those times of just an animal powered world. Jesus had a mother like most-she stored up things in her heart.

She knew her son was special and He was the Son of God. But all mothers 'know' their children are special and all of them hide memories in their hearts. They do all in their sphere of power and influence to provide all they can for their children. (I am aware of some parents who are not able to be so-I speak in generalities.)

I had a good mother and have known many good mothers in my life and they all had one thing in common-unless you wanted to be mauled by a bear, do not hurt one of their own. I don't know any other way to say that. Mother's are the most fierce of creatures where their offspring are concerned.

How much Jesus loved His mother. To make provision for the rest of her life could have been done beforehand so why did He wait until He was almost gone? Why was it the last act of His pre-resurrection life? I choose to believe it is because Jesus wanted us all to know how great a place all our mothers have in this world and in our lives. (Note-Mary kept company with women who had no children who I believe were very special to her and she knew she shared her child with all...)

Mothers are another reason I am not good with holidays-everyday, to me, is Christmas-is Easter-is Mother's day.

Everyday is Father's day in that God gave us all of this to live in and to love in. Everyday we must be about our Father's work, calling out our Father's name, praising our Father for all He is, and thanking our Father for all He continues to do for us.

Thank you, Father in Heaven, for Mama.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven, Heal the broken hearts of those who have lost their mothers and wives. Remind us, oh Lord, how blessed we are to have shared this life with them. Loving and healing Father, In the name of Jesus, Amen
