Don't Be Afraid of Fear

Saturday, September 28, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:  1 Corinthians 2:14

14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

Memory verse: Psalm 42:2(New American Bible )

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?"

Today's reading:  Isaiah 7-8 Ephesians 2

Don't Be Afraid of Fear

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself".

A great saying from the past that most have heard and it is true in this world of chaos. But-God's kingdom sees it differently-indeed the Bible teaches us to fear God.

Isaiah 8: "12 “Don’t regard as alliance what this people calls alliance,

and don’t fear what they fear or be awestruck by it;

13 but Adonai-Tzva’ot — consecrate him!

Let him be the object of your fear and awe!

Fearing God is what He teaches in His living word. So how do we deal with it, especially when we read,

"Perfect love casts out fear" in 1 John 4:18?

The key for me is in Psalm 23:4 where it says: "I will fear no evil".

Fear no evil-God is not evil.

Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate."

Proverbs 9:10 says the 'fear of God' is the beginning of wisdom. God's wisdom lets us see pride, arrogance and perversion for what they really are-the way of the natural world-the evil owned by the enemy.

So, we learn not only to 'fear no evil', but to loathe it because we love and fear our God who hates sin.

Proverbs 19:23 "The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm."

Do you long for a satisfied mind and soul? Fear God, hate sin.

Our only hate is for sin. The only thing we have to fear is not fearing God.

A deep understanding of a healthy fear for God is in growing in love for God day by day.

Put in the work.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is above all my understanding. Teach me to live by Your will in Your kingdom. Let me realize Your gifts for today. Forgive me my lust for things of the world.

Merciful and awesomely powerful God,

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen
