To Sing This Song
Monday, March 3, 2025
Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Verse of the Day: Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Daily Reading: Numbers 26-28 Mark 8
To Sing This Song
Yesterday, we ended with the statement, “Our lives are a song to God.”
Most folks know that I still perform professionally with my son. But I have to work on it everyday. I have to practice my guitar and my vocals everyday. Why? Been doing it for 50 years, why do I practice? I want to be as good as I can be and at this age it is hard to keep the voice where it needs to be. My fingers are not getting younger-I have to fight back the old age tide.
The joy I get from wife and children cannot be explained. It is an amazing life. Only silent time with God is better.
But being able to sing, especially harmonies, is gratifying in a way that I cannot express.
Being able to sing to God...well, we hear folks say that ‘God inhabits the praise of His people’. This comes from Psalm 22:3
“Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.”
When we worship together, The Bible says God is among us.
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
When people are not emotionally consumed by the music and surroundings, but by the presence of our amazing God-when the reality that God is worth ultimately more than all we have on this earth and in this life-this is worship ‘in spirit and truth’.
For me, corporate worship is only real when I bring that reality of spirit and truth with me from home where I have had my own silent worship. This is a time when all my weak words and my songs fall short and the Holy Spirit takes over.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
When we experience God alone, then we can experience God together. Personally, I can’t wait until I get to church and assume that the experience will ‘get me into’ worship. That would be like everyone showing up to eat at church and no one brings food.
With God, the wedding table is set and all we have to do is show up-properly dressed. Matthew 22:11
We cannot depend on anyone else to provide what we ‘need to wear’ but Jesus. He gives us all we need. We must put it on .
Having said all this, relax. See God and only Him. He will do it.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Your name is beyond my words and songs, but teach me more how to speak and sing only of you and to You. Forgive me my infatuation with excitement. Lead me away from false worship.
God of all Glory,
In the name of Jesus,
Amen

I made a bad mistake yesterday. Bread in the Temple of God was made with olive oil and not water. Water was used to wash off animal sacrifices and in ceremonial washing. Forgive me such a horrendous error.
