Good morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Colossians 1:22 But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy, unblemished, and blameless in His presence —
Memory verse: Psalm 90:14
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Today's reading: 2 CHRONICLES 32-33 JOHN 18:19-40
The Peril Of The Unconscious
Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13–14)
Isaiah 62:6-On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the LORD in remembrance, take no rest,
"You who put the Lord in remembrance'...
'In remembrance' means bring to mind or keep in mind. This implies an ongoing effort.
'Watchman on the walls that are never silent' means vigilance.
The scripture ever reminds us to be conscious of our God- to be 'awake' to the Holy Spirit in our lives and to be vocal for our Lord.
'Act like men' challenges us to copy behavior. It tells us that God is patient with the fact that we have a lot of growing to do.
The one true man we should emulate is Jesus. Jesus never sinned although He was human just like us.
For our own minds, we can rearrange 1 Corinthians 16:13&14 to say:
Act like Jesus:Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.
Always in the power and love of the Holy Spirit, be watchful. A watchman on patrol uses his senses. He looks from horizon to horizon and in between looking for signs of danger but also looking for runners coming with news or friends coming with supplies. He learns the manners of those approaching to tell the good from the bad.The point is, the good watchman never takes his eyes and ears off his job-never stops learning. He is there for every weather change-hot, cold, blowing wind and rain. He is vigilant.
He stands firm in the face of all discouragement because he knows the king of the kingdom and all His forces have his back. He does all this out of the love for those He guards-his family, his brothers in arms. He knows the words of the creed by which they live and constantly runs their precepts through his mind as he constantly watches.
Get the point? We must walk as Jesus walked-watch as Jesus watched. We must pray like Jesus, talk like Jesus...forgive like Jesus and love like Jesus-yes-we must think like Jesus-constantly.
There is much peril if we are unconscious of our Master as we walk the walls...
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed and holy is Your name. Your righteous mind and heart and words show me my sin of lethargy. Forgive me and strengthen my resolve and desire to walk as Jesus walked.
Holy and righteous Master,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
