The Open Glass

Good Morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Memory verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Today's reading: JEREMIAH 43-45 HEBREWS 5

The Open Glass

How hard is it, really, to tell right from wrong? It is safe to say that it is not rocket science. It is quite easy to see that the 'cognitively-challenged' have a naturally strong sense of right and wrong-just spend time with any of them some time.

There are some people who have no moral barometer at all. I would call these morally challenged, although there is much behavioral science involved. These seem to find trouble, even when there seems to be none.

But, then, there are those of us who know better and find excuses to sin. We ignore good teaching in scripture-while we carry the 'fish' on our cars and a cross on our lapels.

Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for people who have grown up. From their experience they have learned to see the difference between good and evil.

Solid food is for the people who are faithful enough to be serious about their faith-they can drink from an open glass and not a 'sippy' cup.

Before any of us get all high and mighty, look in the morror. Is that a sipper in your hand? How deeply are you into the heart of God right now because you love Him? We're talking about a real relationship with God the Father in Christ-not an obligation to a list of rules.

Yes, all of us revert back to a pacifier from time to time-the top of the table is kept spotless and sterile while things underneath...

...as long as we look and smell good things are great?

O.k., stop and be still. You are reading this for a reason. You are reaching for God. So, while you wash your hands and feet, let God clean up the middle. Be honest and truthful with God. He is the only one who knows all about you but still says, "Come, my child; tell me all; confess all and you will be clean in My Son".

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me my futile thinking that I can perform my way into Your grace. I just want to learn as much as I can about You and live in obedience out of real love-not obligation.

My Father of tender mercies and truth...

In Jesus' name,

Amen
