Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Psalm 139:13-14
13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Today’s reading: 2 Kings 19-21 John 4:1-30
The Day’s Worship
Hebrews 10:25, “...not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Encouraging each other with what?
Worship is not about the ‘order of worship’ or ‘liturgy’ as much as we see such things. It is not about our surroundings. Jesus preached His ‘sermon on the mount’ outside. Worship never has depended on the decor of the inside of a worship center or the outside-what the worship leaders wear or their age or color or voice.
Worship has to do with truth, Spirit, and sincerity.
John 4:24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Truth and sincerity are the same in worship but I feel I must emphasize being sincere in this culture.
We cannot be sincere outside of our reality. This is our point today.
What is your reality? Is God the most important thing in life?
Our daily worship-what we do with God in private and in our hearts all day long-will define our feelings of freedom in corporate worship.
“Worship means consciously knowing and treasuring and showing the supreme worth and beauty of God.”
Consciously-knowing-treasuring-showing-being conscious of God as we walk this life-how good and merciful and mighty.
Our worship today will be our freedom-or not- to worship together with God’s family.
Bring your pain and sorrow-your deepest hurt to God-in private and bring it to church-come seeking to be encouraged and lifted. When you bring your troubles, you are being sincere-in truth.(John 16:13-“But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth.”) The Spirit of Truth will meet you in your reality-the Spirit of God Himself will lift your load if you let it go and trust Him with it. Your deepest trust in God is your real worship.
Tell God how you feel and how you want to feel in worship.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
My feelings fall short of really hallowing Your name. Forgive me. I want to worship freely in Your kingdom. Give me courage today to let go of my control and embrace Yours.
Mighty and great God of all creation,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
