Good Morning, Lord

V.O.D.: 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

M.O.M.: Ephesians 4:31

31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.(English Standard Version)

Today's reading: DANIEL 5-7 2 JOHN 1

Rest In Faith

It is hard to be still on the inside and wait on God. With all the hurt that can come our way, it is easy to think that faith hurts. The key to this is the concept of 'thinking'.

People say that talking to ourselves is somehow mentally off or wrong. That is utterly ridiculous. Talking to ourselves is nothing more than thinking out loud. So stop thinking you are crazy for talking to yourself. In fact, when we hear things out loud it may sound a little different than it does in our minds. Have you ever heard some say, "Did I just say that out loud?".

If it does not sound right when you say it, you need to back up and see where the thought came from. A lot of stuff that we let run around in our minds comes from an unrighteous source. Attacks from the enemy come from all directions. This is why meditation is so important. Why do you think that meditation has been given such a weird wrap in Christian circles?

The enemy does not want any of us meditating on our Lord and His word, His love and grace. If you close your eyes and it seems like a whirlwind, you are not alone. But our God is not a God of confusion.

1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

The King James Bible says:

2 Timothy 1:7-For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

That 'sound mind' actually translates as 'self-control'. God wants us to know our own minds and has given us control over what goes on in there. We all have the ability to stop the 'whirl-wind' and center on His heart. It has to start somewhere, however, it does not just simply happen.

Waiting in patience on God is not easy with all the things we worry about. That is why the scripture tells us not to worry.

Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on..."

So, you ask, "How do I start-where do I begin this meditating?"

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Humble yourself. Stop trying to control. Tell the Holy Spirit you want to think on God's heart-His love. Have a plan. Concentrate on God. As you read the scripture, see and hear every word. Set your timer on your phone if you have to. Try it for 30 seconds and hang on to God with all your heart and mind. If you keep trying, you will find this is too little time. But learn a little at a time.

Faith does not hurt. It is the weight of the world that hurts. So, crawl out from under it and let go-you can't control it. You sure can't carry it. Take all your anxiety and let it go and relax in God's power and loving presence.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows,” 1 Chronicles 16:11-12.

As Psalm 1:1-3 "Blessed is the one whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.

Again, the law of the Lord is Matthew 22:37-39. It tells us that we are to love God with all we are and to love our neighbor as ourselves. It is a choice that must be made.

Life does not have to be as hard as we make it. We must stop trying to 'make it' anything and let God show us what life really is.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me my worry. Teach me, show me how to rest in you and think on You and block out the world.

Great God of inner peace,

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
