Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Verse of the day: Ecclesiastes 11:5
5 “As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.”
Daily Reading: 2 Kings 22-23 John 4:31-54
Prolonged Consciousness
I am not a fan of words and terms or ideas that cannot be seen directly in the Holy Scripture. So when someone asks me where I come up with ‘God-consciousness’, meaning learning to live in a state of being continually conscious of the Holy Spirit and the Mind of Christ(1 Corinthians 2:16), we must look at 1 Timothy 1:5.
“The goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.”
Syneidēseōs is the Greek word for a prolonged moral consciousness.
So 1 Timothy 1:5 can read like this: The goal of our teaching is love from a
1.) ‘clean’ heart
2.) A ‘good’ prolonged or maintained consciousness
3.) Sincere faith, without hypocrisy
A clean heart is a heart that is truthful before God all the time.
A sincere faith is a faith in Spirit and truth.
A good conscience is maintained consciousness-heart and mind that is trained to always listen to God.
Why? The aim is love-An all consuming love for God and the resulting love for mankind.
I do not think we can have a clean heart and sincere faith without being constantly conscious of God.
So, how is this accomplished? The scriptural word is ‘meditation’.
Psalm 119:97 “O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.”
There it is. All the day. All the time.
Jesus is the living word. John 1:1 says,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.”
We must train our minds to be conscious of the ‘Living word’ and His written word.
We can live consciously or unconsciously. It is a choice. It is a lifestyle that must be learned.God consciousness is our living sacrifice-our life of worship.(Romans 12:1&2).
...because He loves us…
Father in Heaven,
I want to live consciously praising Your name and knowing Your kingdom and doing Your will. Give me today what I need and the desire to obey. Forgive me for being distracted by worldly emotions. Lead me away from unconscious living.
Ever present and almighty God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
