Means To An End

Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-Your peace-Your knowledge and discernment. Build my trust. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Verse of the Day: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Daily Reading: Deuteronomy 1-3 Mark 10:32-52
Means To An End
If I say to my wife, “I delight in you because you are such a good cook”, I am really saying, “I delight in good cooking”.
If I say, “I love going to a church that has a really good music team”, I am saying that I love good music and musicians. I know as I say these things that in some minds there will be some negative kickback because I know that great music programs can really enhance worship. But good music and great sermons are only means to worship.
The end of all our thoughts and actions should be to glorify our Heavenly Father in all His greatness.
As close as we will ever get to Heaven on this earth is when we see God in his glory, his holiness, his wrath, his mercy, his wisdom, his justice, his goodness, and his truth because this results in worship emanating from minds and hearts full of God.
So, whenever you do something in church or say something about a worship service, ask yourself always, “Does this point everyone around me to God and His glory?”
Whenever we sincerely go to God in private, the Holy Spirit shines His righteousness on our motives and all pretense or pretending and we are seen as we are-by ourselves and God. Done often, this lets us see what our worship is.
I have such a lot to learn but I know if I continually go to God, He will make my worship real.
...because He loves me…
Father in Heaven,
Your name is amazing-there is so much to learn. Forgive me my hardness to forgive. Give me what I need right now to worship. Lead me away from evil.
Father of Light,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
