From The Well

Saturday, March 15, 2025

Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your limitless love in Christ. Build my trust and my passion. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the Day: Acts 4:10,12

10 "Let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well.

12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

From the Well

Isaiah 12: 3 “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day:

Give thanks to the Lord,    call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples,    proclaim that his name is exalted.”

Both sets of my grandparents were dry land farmers northeast of Dallas. Both had water wells that had ropes and pulleys for drawing water. So, ever since I was big enough, I drew water from a well. I have to say that there is nothing quite like that. When Papa said, “Boys, go get us a fresh bucket of water…”, we would run down the hill and fight over who would actually ‘draw’ the water. It was such a thrill for us.

That well at Papa Enloe’s house was over thirty feet to the water and it was hard for a child to get that heavy bucket all the way to the top. But when the bucket came into view it was always something new. I had seen it done countless times, but it was always new. I had never seen that water before…and it tasted that way-new.

The water was always cool and clear and clean and it tasted so untouched. It was such a wonder.

I wish all of you had the memory of that water-that experience.

The Lord is new every morning. He is new every time we run down the hill and grab the rope and pull. As we pull, God fills us with anticipation of His new and fresh mercies we are about to taste and then the wonder of His clean and pure revelation in our beings. He is such a wonder...

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;    his mercies never come to an end;23 they are new every morning;    great is your faithfulness.

Draw water today for yourself. Draw and drink and make known His wonders in this world that knows so little purity and freshness.

Great is His faithfulness.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Great is Your faithfulness-how fresh and new everyday. Give me great desire for kingdom obedience. Today, I ask for Your counsel and guidance. Forgive me my reluctance to draw from You. Lead me away from careless thinking.

Merciful and majestic God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
