Good morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Psalm 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
Memory verse: Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Today's reading: JOB 17-19 ACTS 10:1-23
Carelessness
The ones of us who are getting past the point of jogging really have to watch where we are going. When we walk into a new place of business where we have never been before, we must pay attention to the cracks in the concrete or we might fall-a different stretch of sidewalk-a new patch of grass in a park. All these have to be watched and our movement adjusted or we can suffer from a fall. It is not just a clumsiness of age; it is a carelessness of attention.
Some of us have a way of allowing our age and experience to make us careless. We have walked this earth for a good while now and we are overly confident in our abilities which leaves us wide open to mistakes-to sin as well.
Some of us have walked with Jesus for so long that we are confident that we have a great many answers for the attacks of the enemy. I have lived just long enough to know this: no matter what we have seen in our lives, the enemy has tricks we have not seen and, so, we must cling to the wisdom-not of our learned understandings, but the wisdom of our eternal, divine God.
Our need for God's wisdom in our lives never ceases just like our consciousness of God's divine Holy Spirit must not wain. His righteous maintenance in us cannot be ignored just because 'we been there, done that, got the t-shirt'.
You who can still jog-you who have the world by the tail-listen well. The enemy never runs out of tricks. Our great God, on the other hand, never runs short on victories of grace and mercy. You can climb any mountain and storm any wall but if your pride in your ability clouds your vision, you will fall. The bigger and smarter-the more famous and beautiful-the higher and mightier fall with great commotion and pain.
Look where you are going!!!
In Christ, we have His mind(1 Corinthians 2:16), and can see with His eyes and ears(Proverbs 20:12). We never outgrow or are too powerful to live justly and mercifully in humility before God(Micah 6:8). We never outgrow the need for confession before God(1 John 1:8).
From the young to the old-WE NEVER OUTGROW GOD. We will always need to be totally dependent on Him-yes, totally.
No matter where we are in this life-walking on a new or old surface-no matter what the season or circumstance, we out of love for God must walk as Jesus walked-
1 John 2:6 says "6 Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.
Where are your feet right now? What are you looking at-what are listening to-who are you lsitening to...?
Time to change? Then change.
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Forgive me for looking and listening to the world. Have mercy on me and guide me to the foot of Your throne by way of the cross.
Loving and merciful Father,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
