Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV

Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”

Verse of the day: 1 Corinthians 2:14

14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 5-6 Ephesians 1

Your Life to God…

We are followers of Christ Jesus and citizens of our home country. As Christians, we follow the laws of our country-we do not rebel against them.

God breathed this truth through Paul in Romans 13:1:

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God.”

Jesus commands us to “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Matthew 22:21

God has put our government in place which is ultimately in His control. Jesus told Pilate in John 19:11, “The only power you have over me is the power given to you by God.”

We pay taxes and we follow laws. We pay homage to our fallen who have given all to keep us free. We repeat over and over again that we live in the greatest country in the world. We are proud patriots.

The point is that Jesus said give to Caesar that which is his and give to God what is His. Our hearts, souls, and minds belong to God in Christ. Matthew 22:37-40 tells us to love God with all these.

The point to what Jesus said to Pilate is that the country gets what is theirs because God says it belongs to the country which is under His control-my body may belong to the country-my patriotic allegiance belongs to the country-my taxes belong to the country-but my country is not my God.

If you allow politics to consume your life, this is not in God’s will. If God consumes your life and controls the way you are involved in politics, this is His will.

Our love for country must come from the love of God in our hearts just as all things in our lives. Unless we love God in Christ more than our country, we cannot love our country as we should.

In our culture, the mindset is to ‘hate’ paying taxes. We should feel ‘right’ when we pay our taxes knowing God has ordained it.

Now that is hard for most to swallow-it is for me. But we must see who is running this place-who put in all in place-who caused us to love freedom enough to die for it.

But we must remember this always: Jesus said, “I am the...truth”(John 14). “The truth will make you free”(John 8:32)

Then Paul wrote, “It is for freedom you have been made free”(Galatians 5:1)

Freedom is a reality only if Jesus is our reality. Many continue to live in bondage in this country by choice or ignorance thinking that freedom comes from our political machine or from their money and this is plainly bondage to sin.

Ask God to show you how free you really are-and then tell Him you want to know His real freedom.

...because He loves you...He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name is over all power and means complete freedom. I want to know Your 'kingdom freedom' in doing Your will. Give me this day what You want me to have and the desire to use it. Forgive me for worshiping my country. Lead me away from evil.

Father of Freedom,

In the name of Christ Jesus my Lord,

Amen
