Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: Colossians 3:15
15 “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”
Today’s reading: Ezekiel 18-19 James 4
You Know Better
The 4th chapter of James tells why we do what we do.
We fight and argue because we do not have what we want and that makes us miserable. Why? We want the wrong things. We do not have what we want because, verse 2 says, “You do not ask God”.
You do not ask God because you know better than to ask for selfish things-for things of this world that thrill you. James 4:3 says, “You do not receive because the ‘reason’ you ask is wrong.”
The Right Reason
Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
We have said this many times before. “Delighting yourself in the Lord means giving up what we want for what God wants for us-trusting God to give us what will satisfy us-Him.”
Making Your Reason ‘Right’
“You do not receive because the ‘reason’ you ask is wrong.”
Tell God your reasoning is wrong. Tell Him you are tired of being unhappy because you want the wrong things. Admit you do not know how to ‘delight’ in Him but you want to.
Pray the Psalm 90:14, “Satisfy us(me) in the morning with Your steadfast love so we (I) may rejoice and be glad all our(my) days.
The Complete Jewish Bible says it like this, “Fill us at daybreak with your love, so that we can sing for joy as long as we live.”
When we are in the world, we are sour and not happy because we are not where we belong. If we seek Him and not the world, He will get us to the right place.
...because He loves us, He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
Holy are You Lord God almighty! You kingdom come in my obedience. Give me what You want me to have today and the love for You to finish well. Forgive me my ‘phoniness’. Lead me away from evil.
God of endless and steadfast love and joy,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
