Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Acts 20:24
24 “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 1-3 John 10:1-23
Get Your Mind Right
The first command of Jesus:
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
So what does repent really mean?
The Greek word for our word ‘repent’ is ‘metanoeite’. ‘Meta’ means movement or change. ‘Noeite’ speaks of the purposes and perceptions of the mind.
Repent means a ‘change of mind’. Christ teaches that we repent-change our minds-for the righteousness of God in Him.
Then, Jesus teaches in Luke 3:8 to “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”
What we hear is that repent, to Jesus, means to change our minds and behavior. But we cannot do this without a spiritual change.
Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3 that unless you are born again, you cannot enter into God’s kingdom. Then in verse 6:
“Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”
We are created new when are born again(2 Corinthians 5:17). God has given us a new way of thinking when we repented and were saved-we have the mind of Christ(1 Corinthians 2:16).
But…. We have sin living in us(Romans 7:17) so we must continue to repent-to change our way of thinking?
As long as we are in the flesh, we are not perfect and will sin. Every time we lose consciousness of the Holy Spirit-we have changed our minds or our state of mind and we must confess it to the Lord and get back where He wants us-in His presence-conscious of Him-we must ask the Holy Spirit to make our minds righteous-to make our minds ‘right’.
He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all us righteousness(Ephesians2:8&9)-every time.
We will fail God but God will never fail us.
Get your mind right. Only God can change our minds when we yield our control. Tell God to show you how to completely yield.
...because He loves us…He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
You are so righteous-Your name is above all. Give me the desire to keep my mind in Your kingdom and free from sin. Forgive me for falling to sin. Lead me away from a bad mind.
Father of all common sense in righteousness,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
