Why All The Fuss?

Why all these days on the subject of worship? The Bible quotes Jesus:

“It is written,

“‘You shall worship the Lord your God,    and him only shall you serve.’”Luke 4:8

Since the beginning, mankind has worshiped whatever mankind has seen and could touch. The cavemen did it. The businessmen and stargazers do it now. Jesus was tempted to have it all. Mankind works to own it all and know it all.

Mankind is wrong-God is right. We either choose to believe this eternal truth or we are eternally wrong.

When we choose to believe this truth, then we choose to love God and to love people, as He teaches, and nothing else.

Here are the rivers of living water that flow from the believer(John 7:37-39). That means these waters flow through us from God’s heart. Living water is the Holy Spirit-God Himself in our lives.

A life that does not worship in Spirit and truth(John 4:24) has chosen to stop the Divine flow-to live in disobedience-to not honor God-to not be a living sacrifice(Romans 12:1&2).

This sounds so negative because it is.

But our Holy God is all positive. He loves us completely. He gave His only Son so we could live eternally reunited with Him and worshiping Him.

The choice we make is to obey and worship Him or not. This what all the ‘fuss’ about worship is. But it must be ultimately more than a fuss-it must be our lives.

Tell God you want to be in the right place with Him and then listen…

...because He loves us…

Father in Heaven,

Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my choices and resolve. Give me today what You know I need and the mind to use it. Forgive my fear. Lead me away from sinful thought.

God of more than I ever need,
