Where Is Our Faith?

Wednesday, April 3, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:    Romans 8:28-29

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: RUTH 1-4 LUKE 8:1-25

Where Is Your Faith?

Where is Our Faith?

In Luke, chapter 8, Jesus is awakened by His frightened disciples and calms the storm and asked them, "Where is your faith?", verse 25.

23 verses later, Jesus tells a woman who has struggled and fought through a crushing crowd-just to touch His clothing-“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace”, verse 48.

What went through the minds of the disciples when they heard this? The crowd was crushing people just to get to Jesus and He stopped and spoke. A hush must have fallen across the mass of people and the crush to get to Him turned to straining to hear His words in silence. The disciples knew Jesus was about to speak and so stood motionless with the rest.

" Who touched me?" Jesus said and all went silent. The woman knowing she was 'caught' spoke and all heard.

"I've been sick these 12 years and knew if I touched you I would be healed."

“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

The disciples, how did they 'feel' then? The memory of Jesus' speaking to the wind and the waves-His questioning their faith-was all still fresh on their minds and here, a peasant woman who had never seen Jesus before, had been healed with faith alone.

Being aware of the presence of Jesus and reaching for Him are two different things. The disciples had direct access to Jesus twenty-four hours a day yet, had questionable faith.("Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples.) A woman who had only heard of Jesus-had never seen Jesus-had healing faith...“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

There are no crushing crowds. We have to keep our distance. We, also, have full access to Jesus with the Holy Spirit in our lives-twenty-four-seven.

Where is our faith? Are we fighting through the chaos the world of the enemy is striving to crush us with to touch Jesus? Or, do we complain that Jesus 'sleeps' while we are about to perish?

Being embedded is the idea of God. He is in our lives all the time. Do we act like the folks on the road to Emmaus and not recognize Him, or do we acknowledge His peace and power and reach for Hm continually?

"...that whosoever believes in Him will not perish..."

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I look around You-see over You-I confess I am not reaching for You. I now look directly at You and I reach for You. Work in Me for your glory.

Great Father of all....

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
