Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:    John 13:13-15 "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

What Is Happening Now?

Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

What is happening now-right this minute? After you have read and heard the morning news, what did it say? It said, "This is what happened(past tense) and because of this, this is what may happen tomorrow(future)."

I am vexed at some teachers who want to focus on what the Bible says will happen. And yes, the Lord tells us to prepare for His coming. In Matthew 25, Jesus tells of the oil for lamps and tells us to have plenty of oil. What does that mean?

It means for us to walk in the light(1 John 1:5-7). It means for us to be conscious of our own needs first and make sure we have what we need for Him-to have what we need from Him(Matthew 6:33).

It does not mean to exhaust ourselves in endless study of the second coming of Jesus. It tells us to be empowered with His light which takes daily maintenance,(Luke 9:27).

What will make a difference in ten thousand years in eternity? I contend it is only that which really prepares us for the return of Christ Jesus-that is 1) knowing Him as deeply as is divinely possible-being consumed with seeking the kingdom of Heaven(loving God, Matthew 22:37-40); 2) exhausting all we have in spreading the Gospel(Matthew 28:19-20) and then developing the new believers(loving our neighbors as we love ourselves).

Is it winning folks to Jesus and is it developing new believers? If not, ask God if it is His will to pursue whatever it is. Don't ask me-don't ask your favorite teacher-ask the only one who has the right answer-our Almighty God.

What is happening right now-in your life-that will make a difference in ten thousand years in eternity?

Father in Heaven,

I listen to so many voices. Forgive me for being so scattered. bring me back to listening to You and seeking You first.

Great and gracious God of staggering and mighty power.
