Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Romans 12:10
10 “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
Today’s reading: 1 Chronicles 22-24 John 8:28-59
What Nature Spins
Psalm 138:8
“The Lord will perfect all that concerns me;”
I want us to think about ‘what concerns me’ for a minute. What concerns us individually? We have many worries and trials-many aches and pains-many heartaches.
Spurgeon said, “All that Nature spins, time will unravel, to the eternal confusion of all who are clothed therein.”
The Psalmist is pointing us to depend completely on the Lord and His provision. He will perfect-God will perfect all that really concerns us.
So, what really is our greatest concern? Our relationship with God-our mind in Christ Jesus-our love for Him-our dependence on Him-our life in Christ is our greatest concern whether we are conscious of it or not.
Our ‘natures’, our carnal man or sin living in us, will lead us off in many wrong directions. Dependence on our nature or ‘following our hearts’ is the opposite of the life in Christ described in God’s Word.
God will perfect His will in our lives if we let Him. The Psalmist wrote it. This is God’s word.
So where are you in seeking God(Matthew 6:33)? Back to our original question: What really concerns you? Is it a lot of ‘nature’s spin’? Do your ‘concerns’ really have eternal consequences or are you ‘clothed’(wrapped up) in the confusion of the enemy?
If our faith in Christ holds any dependence on any of our nature, it fails. It is time for us to let go of our sinful safety nets and see the truth.
God will perfect all that concerns us if what concerns us is our life in Christ.
Tell God that you want the worldly confusion gone from your mind. Tell Him you want to know His perfection. The world will always tell you this can’t happen-you can never do this-which is true-you can’t…
...but God can and will.
Philippians 1:6: “I know that God has begun to do good things in you. And I am sure that he will continue to work in you. Then, on the day when Jesus Christ returns, his work in you will be finished.”
...because He loves you, He will do it...
Father in Heaven,
Your name is perfect. Your kingdom come in my concerns. Open my eyes to see what You are giving me today. Forgive me for depending on my own judgment. Lead me away from evil.
Gracious and kind Father,
In the name of Christ Jesus my Lord,
Amen
