Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Colossians 4:5-6
5 “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
Today’s reading: 2 Kings 4-6 Luke 24:36-53
What Is Your Desire?
How much can you ‘hold’ in your own soul? How big is the reservoir of your soul? What can it hold? What does it actually need to hold? How much do you really want of God?
I don’t know if I had ever thought of these questions together before but the Bible has answers.
We know the soul can be worn down, depressed, hurt, etc. but the Bible says:
“He restores my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” – Psalms 23:3
He guides us in His righteous paths so we can find His ways of soul restoration so He receives the glory.
“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” – Matthew 22:37
Our souls hold as much love as we allow-as much as we want-as much as we are willing to absorb from Him and for Him. It is commanded that we open up and give all the space in our souls to loving God. In this is our capacity to really love our enemies(Matthew 5:43-48) as well as love God.
What we gain of the world can only be gleaned by God’s Spirit.(Mark 8:36)
After we have chased the world in sin, there is forgiveness and rest in God in Christ Jesus.
28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 22:37- “Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Matthew 6:33- “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Love God with all you are and seek Him above all else-God will take care of your soul in Christ. Tell God you want as much as He wants for you.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Hallow-I want to hallow Your name as You say and I want to know Your kingdom. Give me what I need today to grow in You. Forgive me for letting my mind get off of You. Lead me away from worthless thinking.
God of soul restoration,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
