Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV

Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”

Verse of the day: 2 Thessalonians 3:3

3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

Today’s Reading: Job 1-2 Acts 7:22-43

What Is The Need?

Jesus compares serving God to serving money.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

But how does one serve money? Money does not need anything. If one serves money, life is built around gathering as much of it as you can in provision for the future.

God needs nothing from us, so, how do we serve God? In Matthew 22:37, Jesus says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.” Then He says, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself”.

We must love God to be able to love self so we are willing and able to love our neighbor.

In John 4:24, Jesus says, “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

In John 10:30, Jesus says, “I and the Father am one” and in John 14, Jesus says, “I am way, the truth, the truth, and the life…”

Loving God in Christ and walking in the Spirit- what that means is that we experience the glory of God in Christ and that results in:

1. Loving and treasuring Him in Christ(in Spirit and in truth)

2. Loving ourselves the way God has planned. (We are created in His own image and that means there is a lot to love.)

3. Love and service to our fellow humans who have needs just as we do.

God loves-He does not need. Our greatest need is to love God with all we are-and the rest God will reveal.

...because He loves us...He will do it…..

Father in Heaven,

I want Your name to be my greatest treasure. Reveal to me Your kingdom will. Give me great desire for You today. Forgive me for desiring things in this world. Lead me away from evil.

Treasure and truth of my spirit,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
