Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: Deuteronomy 18:15
15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen—
Today’s reading: Hosea 1-4 Revelation 1
What Do We Give?
Chapter 2 of Matthew tells us the account of the activity around the birth of Christ Jesus.
There were three basic responses to Christ’s birth:
King Herod was threatened even to the point of ordering mass murder.
The scribes and the Pharisees, when gathered by Herod, simply told Herod the Messiah was to be born.
The three wise men went and found Christ, led by the star, and fell down and worshiped Him.
The scribes and the Pharisees just gave information-that was it. Matthew does not mention them again in this story. They gave no attention to the most important prophecy they had.
Herod gave evil attention; the Pharisees gave none; the wise men fell on their faces and worshiped.
What does God want from us this Christmas? What He wants everyday-attention-our full attention.
God wants us to come to Him in Christ and ‘fall down’, as it says in the Greek of the wise men, and worship Him.
First the wise men followed the star. They asked of the King in their search and finally the star led them to Christ. The exhausted all avenues they had to find Jesus and when they did, they fell down and worshiped.
While everything else is going on this holiday and everyday for that matter, we must exhaust all our senses-all our emotional strength-to find ourselves in awe of Christ Jesus our Messiah and our Lord.
What does God want from us on Christmas-our attention-our full attention.
Tell God that you want Him to fill you with awe as you ‘fall down’ to worship.
...because He loves you, He will do it
Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my heart as it is in Heaven. Give me today what You want me to have and forgive me of my short attention span for Your righteousness. Lead me away from evil.
Loving and gracious God,
In the name of Christ Jesus
Amen
