Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: Psalm 119:18

18 “Open my eyes, that I may behold    wondrous things out of your law.”

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 3-4 Hebrews 11:20-40

What Cannot Be Seen

Hebrews 11:2 says, “People in the past became famous because of their faith.” Then it goes on to say in verse 3, “3 It is by faith we understand that the whole world was made by God’s command. This means that what we see was made by something that cannot be seen.”

We believe that all we see of this world-the earth, the seas and all of nature are made from nothing by something or someone we cannot see.

The ‘faithful of old’ were famous for believing this and died believing it. They based their entire lives on this truth because they listened to God-whom they could not see.

Abel was the first man of faith mentioned. It says in Hebrews 11:4 that ‘it was by faith’ that Abel offered a ‘better’ sacrifice than Cain. God had told Cain in Genesis 4:

6 “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

If you do what is right”? What is right in God’s eye’s-righteousness. Abel believed and with that faith pleased God. We see Cain was subject to anger and he did not listen to God. He left the door open to sin and did not fight it to rule over it and so he planned to and killed his brother. Then he was nasty to God when God asked him where Abel was.

This is the attitude that hung Jesus on the cross. This is the attitude of the enemy. This is the opposite of faith.

The message for all of us is that sin crouches at all our doors. We all must open the door and live in this world so we must be ready with the armor of God and fight off sin and, yes, rule over it.

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things(from verse 38-death, life, angels, principalities of the present or future-any powers, nor height nor depth or anything else in creation) we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. “

More than conquerors’ means a step up from conquerors-it means rulers.

It is time to declare war on sin living in us and stop ‘taking it so lightly’ and ‘gear up’ by God’s standards and fight sin away from the door and away from us as we live in this world.

Pray on the armor. Tell God you want to rule over sin in your life.

...because he loves you, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

You are Lord of Heaven’s armies. By faith I want to see Your kingdom come in my heart and in my obedience. Give me the desire You know I need for today’s battles. Forgive me for not fighting sin in me. Lead me away from evil.

Mighty and great God of all,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen

ree
