Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Verse of the day: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 13-14 John 12:1-26
The Word of Truth-Hear It!
He called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand.” (Mark 7:14)
The next command of Christ Jesus we look into is His command for us to hear Him-and understand. There is that second element again-not just hear but understand.
There always have been those who will not understand. First, because there is no room in their hearts for the truth of Christ.
“You seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you” (John 8:37).
Then there are those who are just not ‘of God’. They are not chosen.
“Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God” (John 8:47)
Jesus came to speak the truth and we are to hear and understand.
“For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth” (John 18:37).
For the believer, right now-today, there is room in your heart or you would not be of God and you would not be saved. The problem is understanding the urgency of the truth that Christ has spoken and is speaking in your heart. Jesus also said:
“Take care then how you hear.” Luke 8:18
We cannot hear with the world in our hearts and ears all the time. Preoccupation with the world and our ‘social’ needs takes up a lot of room. Turn it off. Ask God to teach you how to separate the holy from the unholy and prioritize. It may sound so simple-but if it is, why is there such a need? This need is seen in the weakness of our witness in our own worlds.
When have you spoken His truth outside of a Christian setting? There is the need-our own need to get right and hear and understand.
Tell God you want to understand.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Help me to make Your name understood as the only great and Holy God. Let me understand Your kingdom. Forgive me for not listening to You. Lead me away from listening to the noise of the world.
My God who speaks only wisdom and truth,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
