Under The Surface

The hill country of Texas is a rather rough place. If you have ever worked it much or walked it while hunting, you know. There are dry ravines and creek beds where springs once ran water. I could take you to some that once ran shallow water 75 feet wide and now are dry. The plague of the juniper/cedar trees have dried many springs up. Like the halls of some great governments where honorable men of great honor and wisdom once walked these creek beds are dry and parched by hot air and winds. There is no more fresh water from deep in the earth but only sporadic flows from surface rains.

Where does the living water or living word come from? A soldier's medal could be worn on any chest-but only the original soldier knows the real truth. Historical plaques are placed to commemorate special places but only the people who lived there know the truth that died with them.

When we read of 'living water' in the scripture, what does it mean? This holds a meaning unique to the individual. Only you know what it means in your life and it takes consistent commitment to live in this living water.

John 7:37 ...Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 To the one who believes in Me, it is just as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water’ will flow from within him." 39 He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive.

Constant clearing of cedar trees on the hills has restored the flow of springs in some places-but it is a constant battle.

God planned for our lives to be rivers of living waters. He intended for His living word to flow from our lives-not just printed on our chests and backs.

A fresh spring is the handiwork of God. I hope all of you have a chance in your life to just sit and watch the water run up out of the earth. It comes from deep within the creation of God's Heart and Mind for us.

May the world around you see living water from deep in God's heart flow from your life. How amazing is that?

Father in Heaven,

You are our amazing God! Forgive me for allowing the empty and dry world in.

Flow from me! Humble me that my life is clear of sin that would stop the flow of your love. Flow from Me!

Great and loving God!

In Jesus' name,

Amen

...because He loves us...
