Treasure Or Not?

Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day-Psalm 33:4-5
4 “For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.”
Today’s reading: Exodus 36-38 Matthew 23:1-22
Treasure or Not?
Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
I want us to look in the mirror today and answer this question: “What do I treasure most in this world?”
Because—we are to love God with all we are-Matthew 22:37-39.
In truth, whatever we treasure above all else on this earth is a god-little ‘g’. The Bible calls this many things-’idol’, ‘mammon...,
Here is another hard verse:
“Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:16).
So how do we get to the place where these hard sayings don’t bother us? We do all we can to make sure that God is where our heart is because He is a consuming fire.
A quote from a Beatles’ song says, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
Yes, I disagree because it does not agree with scripture. I like the song but cannot agree.
The Bible teaches us that we can do nothing to make God love us more but it commands us to be delighted in Him.
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”Psalm 37:4
How do we ‘delight’ in the Lord? The very next verse tells us:
5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn “
Commit your way-that means set a pattern for your life and use the self-control(fruit of the spirit Galatians 5:22&23) and set a determined course. We must find delight in our Lord by our own trust and commitment and verses 5&6 says:
“He will do this:6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”
Our vindication? The complete relief of all guilt and remorse-freedom as the ‘noonday sun’.
Delight in the Lord or not?
We live what we choose. Choose Jesus.
...because He loves us…
Father in Heaven,
I want my delight to be in Your name and in Your kingdom. Give me the bread today that I need to desire this with all my heart. Forgive me for being lukewarm and lead me away from a careless heart.
Caring and forgiving God,
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
