Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your limitless love in Christ and endless power. Build my trust and my passion. I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Verse of the day: 1 Peter 2:24
24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
Daily Reading: 1 Samuel 17-18 Luke 11:1-28
To See His Glory
John 17:24
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”
Two things- One is that Jesus prays to God the Father that we would be where He is-with Him. Some may say, and rightfully so, that Jesus speaks of life eternal in His Father’s kingdom.
We also believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three in one, correct? The Holy Spirit inhabits us believers-so-that means Jesus is with us-now-all the time. The heart of God and the mind of Christ-all of God-is in us all the time. This is an awesome thought-an overwhelming truth that some of us take far too lightly. Jesus prayed that we be with Him where He is-knowing He would be with us. Jesus prayed that we be ‘with Him’. That means that we would be conscious of Him and that brings us to the ‘second thing’.
Being conscious of Christ with us opens the horizon of our hearts and minds to the glory of Christ Himself-that He prayed, “...the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”
In living consciously of Christ, our hearts are open to experience God’s given glory of divine love in Christ. This lets us see everything God wants us to see of Jesus.
Looking in the mirror, we see only ourselves-being conscious of self-‘self-conscious’-means we are unconscious of the glory of Christ that he prayed for us to see and wants us to experience.(There’s a reason that thing with lights and a mirror is called a ‘vanity’.)
Ask God to show you a life of divine consciousness-a life consumed with Him in Christ Jesus. Make the choice to turn your ‘vanity’ light off and open the curtains to the sun of God’s glory in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Your name is glorious, let me comprehend more and more of Your kingdom that my heart is overcome with praise. Forgive me for self-consciousness and lead me away from anything that gets in the way of my seeing the Glory of Christ.
Glory giving God and loving Father,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
