Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Joshua 1:9

9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Verse of the day- Ephesians 4:15

15 “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,”

Today’s reading: 1 Kings 8-9 Luke 21:1-19

Think Deeply

 Mark 4:39 ►

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Peace! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

The world values a quick response. The person with a quick and wise response is a valued asset.

The quick and dumb-the strong and mad-the angry outburst-not valued so much. We don't even have to ask why. This behavior no one wants. Then why does it happen? People have not learned how to control their emotions.

As we read this and pass judgment, we are obligated to look in the mirror. I remember my mother saying, "She said 'such and such' and that 'flew all over me!'" We cannot help when something 'flies all over us'-but we can control the reaction.

The Bible does not tell us to never be angry, it tells us to not sin when we are angry. God knows our emotions.

Ephesians 4:26

26 “In your anger do not sin ”Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry."

We cannot keep anger from happening but we can learn, from the Holy Spirit, to keep it between ourselves and God. The last of the Fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22,23, is self-control or control of emotional self.

Jesus said to the wind and waves, "Peace, be still!"

When your emotional boat starts rocking and rolling, remember those words and say, peace, be still-or stop be strong- or peace, be strong. Take an emotional step back breathe-lock your mouth long enough to know what to say or, better, what not to say.

Proverbs 15:1 ►A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Anger silently, think deeply, pray currently.

Peace, be strong.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is Peace and strength. Forgive me for not using the control You give me. Help me to learn to step back and listen to You with my heart. Lead me away from having harsh reactions.

Faithful God of all control.

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
