Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Verse of the day: Joshua 24:15
15 “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Today’s reading: Jeremiah 43-45 Hebrews 5
Think And Pray
Think-dwell on scripture-read, study, memorize
Pray-pray without ceasing-1Thessalonians 5:17
Let’s look at what Paul did in Ephesians chapters 1 and 3.
In chapter 1, Paul goes over some sound theology for us: verses 3-14-our election-His choosing us; our ‘sonship’ in Christ; our redemption and forgiveness in Christ’s blood and on and on. From verse 15 to the end of the chapter, Paul speaks of prayer and prays for us.
In Chapter 3, he does the same and in verse 12 says we have ‘boldness and confidence in accessing God in our faith ‘from’(in the Greek) Him.
If our faith is from Him, how do we strengthen our faith? We continually go to Him to continually grow in Him. Paul teaches us how to stay confident and bold in Christ.
The end of Ephesians 3, Paul prays-for us to be filled with the fullness of God.
Nothing takes the place of the study of God’s word and prayer. Many people are riddled with doubt about their security in Christ simply for lack of study and prayer. Have you ever seen a picture of a human who is starving and emaciated? That is hard to think about but that is what souls are like who will not take the time to allow God to nourish them. That is where doubt flourishes.
So develop good study and prayer habits. Nothing else will do. Nothing but God’s glory will fight off doubt.
But this is just the beginning. Once good prayer and study habits are your norm, the fullness of God starts coming into view. The great expanse of God’s love for you begins to be a reality and you are living in Christ. So much life is ahead!
Either we fill our hearts and minds with pursuit of God or the enemy fills us with doubt.
Tell our God-the Lord of Heaven’s armies-your Lord-that you want to be where He wants you to be.
...because He loves you, He will do it…
Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your holy name. Your kingdom come in my heart to do your will as it is done in Heaven. Give me what You want me to have for today and forgive me for not being serious about Your will for me. Lead me away from doubt.
Gracious and loving God,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
