Good Morning, Lord
Verse of the Day: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Memory verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Today's reading: JEREMIAH 30-31 PHILEMON 1
The Truth About Truth
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
'The truth will set you free' is translated 'liberate from restraint. What restraint?
Micah 4:3
Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
And never again will they train for war.
No more weapons means that hatred and judgement are gone-the desire for power and oppression have been conquered. Fear is gone.
On a more personal level, Paul wrote in Titus 3:
10 If someone causes arguments, then give him a warning. If he continues to cause arguments, warn him again. If he still continues causing arguments, then do not be around him. 11 You know that such a person is evil and sinful. His sins prove that he is wrong.
The truth about folks who always have to be right is their evil and sin-the folks who always have to be the center of attention. The folks who would rather lie than speak truth. These folks are also full of fear.
Being set free means that in Christ-truly under the Holy Spirit's power-we are free from fear.
Psalm 65:7
Who stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
God's truth means freedom from human confrontation.
Truth means freedom and peace.
John 14:27 ►Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
2 Corinthians 3:17
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
We have quickly come full circle.
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32...and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
The truth sets us free and where the Spirit of the Lord is...there is freedom.
Truth is, then, freedom and this is the Spirit of the Lord.
Matthew 6:33 ►But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
When we pour ourselves into seeking His kingdom and righteousness-seeking Him with all we are-we will be under the Holy Spirit's leading and are living in truth. No other place will we find truth except under His hand.
1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
When we are humbled under His hand, there is no truth but His. Our God is love and grace and truth. It is ours in Christ Jesus...
...because He loves us...
Father in Heaven,
Have mercy on me and forgive me for not living under Your hand in Your truth.
Father of all real truth,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
