The Sake Of Christ

Saturday, January 13, 2024

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:   Psalm 72:18-19

18 Blessed be Adonai, God, the God of Isra’el,

who alone works wonders. 19 Blessed be his glorious name forever,

and may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen. Amen.

Memory verse: Romans 8:32 ►

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Today's reading: GENESIS 31-32 MATTHEW 9:18-38

The Sake Of Christ

We breathe for the sake of obtaining oxygen to live. We work for the sake of subsistence. Sake means to obtain.

Paul writes in Philippians 3:7,"... but whatever was gain to me I count as loss for the sake of Christ."

Paul's life was about 'obtaining Christ'. His ministry was about everyone else obtaining Christ.

But Paul had given his life to Christ. He had been redeemed. His eternity with God in Heaven was certain. Why did he say he did everything he did to 'obtain Christ? He goes on to say in Philippians 3, verse 8:

"..in order that I may gain Christ.." (to have God's righteousness by faith in Christ, verse 9)

and in verse 10 says, "that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead."

Is the life we live for the sake of Christ? Do we-do you- work to gain Christ and to know Him the way He wants you to know Him?

Go before God and tell Him where you are-if you dare-and tell Him you want-by any means possible(if you dare) to gain Christ and everything that goes with that knowledge.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

My knowledge of Christ-how much I have of Christ-falls so short because of my weak courage and faith. Forgive me and set me on fire for the sake of Christ Jesus.

Empowering and forgiving God,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
