“I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Verse of the day: Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?” (Matthew 2:1–2)

The Rest of the World

At the time when Jesus was born, the children of Israel were the only people to worship our Living God. The ‘rest of the world’, if they worshiped, their Gods were man made.

So in Matthew, the first book of our New Testament, Matthew records our Messiah for the ‘rest of the world’. The ‘Magi’ came from somewhere east of there and brought gifts for the ‘new born king’. Instead of just being for the people of his family, Jesus came for the ‘rest of the world, too. This is how Matthew starts.

Matthew ends with this:

 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18–19).

God speaks through Matthew and tells us His divine intentions. Jesus came to bring salvation for any who trust in Him-to be the sacrifice for all nations-to wash the sin from every believer with His own blood.

The rest of the world is us, of course, and any others believers on this planet.

Our mission is to reach this ‘rest of the world’, people who will believe, with the this eternal truth.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life”. John 3:16

Tell God how you feel about this and that you want to go deeper.

Father in Heaven,

Hallowed be Your name in all the world. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my heart as it is in Heaven. Give me Your bread for my day for You and will to use it. Forgive my holding back. Lead me from evil.
