The Miracle Of The Burn

Tuesday, ‎March ‎22, ‎2022

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: Ephesians 6:10-11

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Memory of the Month: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Today's reading: JOSHUA 10-12 LUKE 1:39-56

The Miracle Of The Burn

One of our old memory verses of the month brings up many questions.

And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?" —Luke 24:32

It is a statement out of a conversation between two ordinary disciples, one named Cleopas. With the exception of one mention in Mark, these are never mentioned before or after. Just like all the rest of Christendom-never mentioned in scripture-but there for God's purpose all the same. What was this purpose? Why were two ordinary followers of Christ singled out in a story that would last forever?

God works through ordinary people just like us. Jesus walks with us on every road we walk in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is with us all the time whether we know it or not just like Cleopas and his friend. Everytime we open the scriptures, He is there to open the truth of scriptures in our hearts. The revelations we have in scripture and from scripture can only come from him. The miracle continues.

The two friends were grieving over the death of their beloved Christ Jesus. Exhausted from the restless happenings, they discussed all of it. They were insecure and losing hope. The reality of the Roman oppression in their everyday lives was closing in on them as before. All of the worries of their everyday existence, once forgotten as they marveled at the miracles of Jesus, were coming back.

They were now out of work. They probably had no money. We know they had enough for Jesus to break bread with them but what about after their 'visitor' was gone.

But when Jesus came along and began to lift the veil of grief and exhaustion, their spirits began to soar again. Jesus had been gone just a minute-just long enough to defeat death and sin-long enough for their human minds to sink back into their 'normal' world. The miracle of Jesus happened again. He was there. He is the miracle.

The miracle of His 'appearing' was not necessarily the main miracle was it? I believe the main miracle is the same miracle we experience all the time. He is with us every step and we do not recognize Him all the time. Life worries us-what the president will do next-what crooked politician will do to affect our lives next-what we will do to pay all the bills-what the locals say about us-how much do we have in our 401's-our loved ones are sick-we have lost someone we treasured-

The same thoughts the two disciples worried about on the road. The miracle continues...

Jesus knew you would be reading these words on this day. He knows how much of your time has been spent on Him and He loves you in spite of the omission. The miracle goes on. He is there in your consciousness the split second you think of Him-has been there all the time on this road.

Jesus knows it all and never abandons us. This is His miraculous presence. His divine presence, The Holy Spirit, will open His treasure to you everytime you acknowledge Him but He is there regardless. The Holy Spirit is relentless in His attention to us and is ready to fire you up whether you recognize Him or not. The miracle is endless.

The miracle is endless because He is the miracle.

Don't just count your blessings-live the miracle-live the miracle of Jesus in You.

Yes, the stuff of this life cannot be ignored but the miracle of Jesus in our lives-His endless power and grace, peace, and love-is it worth it to ignore this miracle just for a second?

His miracles never end.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Forgive me carrying the weight of the world in worry. Teach me-grab my attention-fill my mind-fill me with Your burning desire.

Mighty and great Father of all peace and strength!

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
