Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Joshua 1:9

9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Verses of the day-2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Today’s reading: Judges 7-8 Luke 5:1-16

The Lion’s Mouth

Paul was an old man and was arrested and alone in Rome and I believe he new in his heart that he would be executed eventually. It is hard to imagine yourself in that position, I get it, but try. This I what Paul wrote in II Timothy 4:16-18

At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” (2 Timothy 4:16–18)

The Lord stood by me and strengthened me”. He has done and will do this endlessly in our lives if we ask God in spirit and truth and in humility.

What was the ‘Lion’s mouth’. You think he was speaking of the Romans? He was in chains. He was facing death. How had he been rescued from the Lion’s mouth?

The answer is from His own temptation to sin. What sin? The temptation to get pulled out of hope to despair-out of faith to disbelief. He was saved from the mouth of the lion of despondency-hopelessness.

Many of us are always on the rim of that crater because we dabble too much in ‘world trust’-you know-money? Fear of losing our ‘security’.

The Lord God is standing by us all. Say this aloud, “The Lord is standing by me-the Lord is standing by me.”

He has never moved. He will never leave you are give up on you. He is always there to rescue you from the mouth of destructive thought. Yes, that is where destruction starts-in our minds.

But we have the mind of Christ,(1 Corinthians 2:16), that cannot be defiled. When we trust God with our minds and meditate on His truth consistently, God assures us He is by our side and gives us mental clarity so we stay in His protection by faith.

Don’t fall in...instead, stand firm in Christ Jesus.

Tell God you want this unshakable faith by His power for His glory.

...because He loves you, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name is my victory for Your glory. Put desire in my heart today to obey as it is done in Heaven. Forgive me my doubts and fears. Lead me away from destruction.

Father of strength,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
