23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

Loving God

Jesus reinforced the commandment, “...Love the Lord your God all with your heart, soul, and mind…and love your neighbors as you love yourselves”

He also said: “42 “But it will be bad for you Pharisees! You give God a tenth of the food you get, even your mint, your rue, and every other little plant in your garden. But you forget about justice to others and loving God. (Luke 11)

The Pharisees, the religious leaders of Jewish word, would do all they could to be seen.

Jesus said, “You burden people with loads that are hard to carry. But you won’t lift a finger to carry any of these loads.(Luke 11:46) You have taken away the key that unlocks knowledge. You haven’t gained entrance into knowledge yourselves, and you’ve kept out those who wanted to enter.” (Luke 11:52)

History repeated itself in what we call the ‘dark ages’-a time when the religious leaders kept folks outside the church as ignorant as they could and made them follow their own rules.

This is the enemy, plain and simple. This ‘path of ruin’ is still alive and darkly thriving today.

To love God with all we are to act justly and love mercy and walk humbly before our God needs to be revisited by all of us.

To act justly and love mercy is to treat all with God’s kindness-even our enemies(Matthew 5:43-48)-to treat everyone with love and fairness. This is above any law of the land or rule of any religious order or political sect or party or any social or civil group. No rules of society are ever above God’s word.

The key to knowledge that Jesus spoke of is all this-knowing God-loving God-living that love before the world-loving our enemies for all to see(especially when we are ostracized for it)-to God’s glory-this is the key Jesus spoke of.

In Christ, all of us have access to this key. It is the light we must not hide(Matthew 5:15).

This means we must tell God we are sorry we have fallen so short and we want to do His will with this precious key to His knowledge to His glory.

...because He love us, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Your name and Your love are true knowledge. Your kingdom is love. My obedience is weak. Forgive me. Give me today what You say I need. Lead me from evil.
