Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Jeremiah 15:19 ESV

Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.”

Verse of the day: John 14:23

23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

The Fulfillment

Matthew 5:17- “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

We will look today at what this means to us in our lives for Christ. How does Jesus fulfilling the law and the Prophets translate into our living our lives for Him?

Matthew 7:12- “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:36–40

All the law-all the law that God has spoken and all that the prophets have written-all of it-depend on the words of Jesus- “Love God with all you are-love your neighbor as yourself”.

All we are-our heart, soul, and mind loving God can mean only one thing. Salvation in Christ-God’s plan for us-His Holy Spirit in us-is the only way we are empowered to love God with all we are.

Then Jesus says to love our neighbor the way we love ourselves. Christ in us, our hope of glory(Colossians 1:27) is our only source for this kind of love.

All that God did for the Jews-all the miracles and deliverance-was done from His endless love for mankind. All that He had the holy Prophets write-all the history-all the law-was spoken by God out of His love for man to make this earth a place of love.

Jesus fulfilled the law in divine love by living and loving and dying for all.

Jesus tells us that loving others as we love ourselves is the law and the Prophets and this is so that people can see us doing for others what we want done for ourselves and so that “that [people] may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16)

God’s will is for our love in Christ to bring Him glory-this is all the law and all the Prophets.

Loving God all we can and loving our neighbor as we love ourselves is the foundation of the joy of Christ becoming our own joy.

John 15:9-11 “9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”

...because He loves you, He will do it…

Father in Heaven,

Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come and bring desire in my heart to obey. Give me today what You know I need. Forgive me for not being serious about Your word and Your love. Lead me away from evil.

Maker of Heaven and earth,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
