Good morning, Lord
Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…
Memory verse: Joshua 1:9
9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Verse of the day- Psalm 103:17-18
17 “But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.”
Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 7-9 John 11:1-29
The Fight
I saw a lifeguard go in after an 8 year old child once who was obviously in trouble. When the guard reached the child, the child fought with great ferocity trying to climb on top of the lifeguard. The child was fighting for life but the wrong way. He had to allow the lifeguard to save him-to stop the fight to live and allow the guard to save his life.
Believing in Jesus is more than believing about Jesus. We must give up the fight and trust in him.
The problem we have is that we continue to fight-for what? Our natural ‘sin-self’ will always fight for what it thinks it needs and desires. God has the answer.
Believing in Jesus means becoming like Jesus is more important than becoming what the world says we should become.
God intends for us to become like Jesus in Romans 8:29. Believing in Jesus means trusting God to not just save you but to make you like Jesus.
The life guard scenario shows you being saved from ‘killing water’.
Jesus gives us ‘living water’. In John 7:37-39, Jesus says He gives the one who believes in Him living water-the Holy Spirit.
So believing in Jesus is more than knowing about Jesus. It is an everyday life of taking up our cross-investing our lives in Him(Luke 9:23), becoming like Jesus(Romans 8:29), and loving Him with all we are(Matthew 22:37-39), obediently following Him(John 10:27) and eagerly waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:28)
Confess that your are not where you need to be. Ask Him to show you how to let go of the fight to live as your ‘sin-nature’ says.
...because He loves us...He will do it…
Father in Heaven,
Your name is so much higher that what I can say. Let me know Your greatness in Your kingdom. Give me desire for looking forward to Your returning. Lead me away from earthly ignorance.
Great Father,
In the name of Christ Jesus,
Amen
