The 'Easy'

Friday, ‎March ‎10, ‎2023

Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day: the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.—2 Timothy 4:3-4

Memory of the Month: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Today's reading: DEUTERONOMY 10-12 MARK 12:1-27

The Easy

It is always easy to find something wrong somewhere. It is easy for anyone who wants to be heard to find a 'wrong' and exploit it. Don't misunderstand, things broken need fixing, but- complaining never made anything better. Negativity certainly never built a good system, or a building, or honor in a man or woman's life.

People who are positive in thought and deed accomplish things. Negativity grinds things to a halt in a cloud of chaos.

One writer said, "I have talked to God as much as I have talked to anyone else in my life"

This man was married to the same woman for many years. He wrote over 40 books on spiritual growth in Christ and will be read as long as there are people who believe in Christ.

There would be some who would immediately go off on a negative about someone who made such a statement-"I have reasoned more with God and had longer conferences with God than with anybody else."

We should be challenged not by the statement but by a man who believes the most important thing in this life is how much contact he made with God. But, the mind of natural man does not understand this reasoning. The natural mind is quick to point out how much time is wasted in such pursuit. The natural mind is naturally contrary to the righteous nature of God, the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:15 The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. 16“For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

This should be such a life-enhancing reality to us who call ourselves 'believers'. It really should be life itself-the mind of Christ-we live with the mind of Christ in us. The world calls us crazy for talking to God and hearing from God-okay, what else is new? They hated Jesus first.(John 15:18) The world will always be negative toward the life in Christ.

Live in the positive. More time with God in prayer-in conversation with God-learning that listening for long periods of time is just as important as hearing our own voice. Think about ways to spend more time with God. Praying without stopping is a Biblical principle, 1 Thessalonians 5:17. This actually means recurring prayer in which our minds center in the mind of Christ and always come back to prayer. In an exchange about retirement or politics or taxes-our minds center back on listening to or asking God.

We must pray that we cultivate this conscious comfort from the Comforter-look forward to the next second when we may hear God speak peace and wisdom in our hearts and minds. How would it be if we all lived with joyful anticipation of the very next word from the Holy Spirit? Adults living in peace and wisdom and few words on the exterior and excited like children in our hearts for the next word from God is a worthy prayer.

It is the easy thing for the world to be negative. The easy thing for us should be to automatically hear God. Pray for it.

We have a lot to think about-make it thinking in prayer.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

I confess, I have not lived in prayer. Help me; impress on me the importance and necessity of Holy Spirit consciousness. I want to listen in joy and peace.

Tender and merciful loving Father,

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
