Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Joshua 1:9

9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Verse of the day- Zephaniah 3:17

17 “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save;he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love;he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Today’s reading: 2 Kings 24-25 John 5:1-24

The Creed of A Child

Creed-a set of beliefs or aims that guide someone's actions.

All of us have a creed. We may be a part of a religion that protests being grouped with the ‘Protestants’ because we just do not want to be tagged and that’s fine. You may have come up in a tradition that has been protested. We all have a foundation on which our faith is based.(Exception-those without Christ have a creed, it is just not the truth) Yours may be a written creed that you repeat every Sunday and this is great or like mine-one learned and believed in love.

My faith’s foundation is rather simple and it goes way back beyond any academia to a small child looking up to my left to see the big folks. The big folks were all family, in my case, and they all sang. Well, they all sang along. Nobody in the family ever sang a solo but I remember being amazed at how good their voices were. They were good to me. They may not have been good to anyone else but me, but they were good to me.

I remember the pastor calling on my grandpa to pray. His voice was low and steady and full of humility. The prayers always ended with ‘In Jesus’ name’.

My unwritten creed came from the family's example and Jesus’ name.

Jesus’ name has so much in it but to a little boy this is all I knew-Jesus' name. God has one son. His name is Jesus. I am a sinner. My sin is bad enough for Jesus to have to die for me so I can talk to God like my grandpa if I get saved. Getting saved is asking God to forgive you and asking Jesus to come into your heart.

It does not matter what tradition you grew up understanding. It is the same for all of us. Jesus said it Himself: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life-no one comes to the Father except through me", John 14:6. No amount of trust put into an organization that is called a 'church' can save a soul. No amount of work done or money  or time given can save a soul. Only the Blood of Jesus can wash sins away completely-only confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in your heart that God the Father raised Jesus from the dead can save.

Romans 10:9 ►If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Only God can choose to never remember your sins ever-

Hebrews 8:12 ►For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

After all these years the creed remains unchanged. College, seminary, or life has not changed the understanding of a little boy. Jesus said that we must become as little children to enter the kingdom of Heaven. (Luke 18:17)

And, yes, it is that simple. God never intended for it to be hard. People will always need to hear...and the faith of a child speaks life.

Speak so they can hear.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Your name is our Life. Your kingdom is living in us. Keep me from making things difficult-that I may speak plainly and simply with Your authority and truth. Forgive my reluctance.

Mighty Father of all!

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
