Good morning, Lord

Verse of the Day:  Habakkuk 3:19

The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.

Memory verse: Psalm 90:14

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Today's reading:   2 CHRONICLES 34-36 JOHN 19:1-22

The Comfortably Lost

Luke 18:11 ►The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.

The Pharisee felt righteous. He was 'comfortable' in his life. He had all he needed. His wealth and position had given him a false sense of being 'untouchable'.

A wealthy man, one without faith, looked me in the eye one evening at a reception and without any provocation said, "I have no regrets, Chaplain".

One of the hardest things in evangelism today is to convince the 'comfortable' that they are lost. They have wealth and position and really don't need anything-they think.

They do not really know of the wrath of God or they have never taken it seriously. The wrath of God is for all who have not confessed their sin and given their hearts to Jesus. It is everlasting punishment in Hell-a place without any comfort at all-no peace-no relief-no love-no companionship-the complete absence of God.

The best way for us to get this message across is in the way we live-the way we honor and love God and hallow His name and lift up the name of Jesus. The way we show that we fear being without Him in every moment of our lives is imperative.

Mankind has made the glory of God so little-so insignificant-this deserves the wrath of God.

Romans 2:5 says, “Because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.”

Our job is to remember this:

Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Any and all means we need to reach these 'comfortable' ones will be added.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Loving yourself-as in love your neighbor the way you love yourself(Matthew 22:37-39)-means loving the righteousness of God that you are becoming in Christ-as you are being conformed into the image of Christ(Romans 8:29).

The 'comfortable' feel righteous in their comfort until they see real righteousness. They must see something in us their wealth will not buy...that they cannot explain. We have an unthreatened peace.

Philippians 4:7 ►

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Hallow God.

...because He loves us...

Father in Heaven,

Hallowed is Your name. God, forgive me my weak understanding of Your peace. Burden my heart with the 'comfortably lost'.

God of peace and righteousness,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
