Good morning, Lord

Father in Heaven, I seek You first-the knowledge of Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Fill my consciousness constantly and complete Your joy in me as I take up my cross and follow...In Jesus' name…

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”

Verse of the day: Romans 12:15

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

Supreme Preference

A lot of folks, if they are truly honest, feel as if something is missing. Some feel as if the next ‘big’ thing is just another conquest or set of steps to achieve and ‘it is coming’.

It is a natural human feeling. It is built into the natural man and woman-to always be looking for the one thing that will come that will make it all better.

That is because we are made by God and He has put a yearn in our hearts-a yearn for His son.

Some never find it. Some are not called. But those of us who have found it should not be looking for the next thing to satisfy us because we already have Jesus.

So what is the problem? The answer is all over the scripture. Jesus says, “Come to me you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”(Matthew 11:28-30) Rest from what?

Rest from running after the next big thing, that’s what.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him” (John 6:44). God has given us Jesus and has drawn us to Himself in Christ so why do we still search?

We get a ticket, sit down and wait for the train. This is not Christian life the way the Bible teaches it.

Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37) Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger.” (John 6:35)

So why all the thirst and hunger?

You refuse to come to me that you may have life.” (John 5:40) Our nature still wants its own way and we have let the enemy convince us that our supreme preference is chasing earthly satisfaction.

When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out.” John 11:43–44

God calls to us as a father calls for a child to, “Jump”, out of a burning window. We jump-God catches us and He never lets go-our minds wander away as we try to squirm out of God’s hands and chase the world.

This is nonsense-it is sin against our Father. Wake up and plead with God to give you the desire to make Jesus your supreme preference. It is the only choice of a true believer.

...because He loves us...He will do it...

Father In Heaven,

Hallowed be Your righteous and holy name. Grant me the desire to do Your Kingdom will. I need You above all else today. Forgive me for not having You as my supreme desire. Lead me away from that.

Loving and patient Father,

In the name of Christ Jesus,

Amen
